JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested 13 people believed to be involved in a recent spate of robberies, carjacking and gang-rapes here.
It has not confirmed which specific cases they were involved in, but on Monday a 19-year-old woman was raped by three men as her boyfriend watched helplessly in Taman Bukit Indah.
Police said they had identified a former member of the Sagol Gang as allegedly being behind the gang-rape.
State CID chief Senior Asst Comm II Roslan Ahmad said Shahabudin S.K. Mohamed Ariff, 27, could assist police in their investigations.
It is learnt that Shahabudin was detained three years ago in relation to a gang-rape case but was released because of insufficient evidence.
There has also been a spate of carjacking in the city. On Sunday a manager of an engineering firm was taken on a terror ride lasting almost two hours when he was carjacked by three robbers.
However, the robbers returned his MyKad and mobile phone SIM card, and even gave him RM30 for a taxi ride.
In May, a woman was held up at knife-point and taken on a terror ride, gang-raped and robbed. Her three-year-old son was in the car with her.
Earlier this year, a 22-year-old woman was killed after being dragged behind her car by a group of carjackers.

案情：28歲的孕婦與3歲兒子乘坐丈夫車子前往新山市區途中，丈夫因為尿急，將車子停在新山淡杯的一個油站上廁所，少婦和兒子在車上等候。 突然，一名刀匪敲打車窗要脅孕婦打開車門，把她和3歲兒子連人帶車擄走。途中，匪徒還在附近接載一名同黨，過後把孕婦載到新山避蘭東偏僻處輪姦，再搶走孕 婦身上財物。幹下獸行後，匪徒又驅車前往某處載了另一名男子，然後才在新山百萬鎮釋放孕婦母子。
第二宗案件：
日期/時間：6月5日晚上10時至6日凌晨12時許
地點：巴西古當大道靠近甘拔士的一家油站
受害人：55歲的建築承包商和35歲的女售貨員
匪徒：4人
案情：晚上10時許，建築承包商載著女售貨員前往新山金海彎附近的公寓訪友，途中，建築承包商把車子停在巴西古當大道旁的一家油站添油，女 售貨員則因為尿急而上廁所。突然，3名馬來刀匪出現，把他們先後押回車上載走。匪徒在巴西古當一帶兜轉逾1個小時後，把他們載到甘拔士一帶的偏僻草叢。3 名匪徒當著承包商面前，在車子前座輪姦女受害人。3匪幹下獸行後，另一名匪徒開來一輛匪車接應，把3名同黨載走。
第三宗案件：
日期/時間：6月11日晚上10時至12日凌晨12時左右
地點：振林山第二通道及士姑來大道一帶
受害人：22歲的輪胎維修員和他20歲的女友
匪徒：4人
案情：晚上10時許，22歲的輪胎維修員阿利駕車載著20歲的女友艾斯特，從笨珍回返新山住家途中，在振林山第二通道被4名馬來匪徒盯上。 匪徒制造車禍企圖搶劫，阿利拒絕就範，試圖逃入附近的努沙再也花園，不料卻闖入死路，企圖回轉車頭時，車子竟告拋錨。匪車此時追蹤而至，搶走阿利和女友的 財物，然後再強擄他們上車，朝士姑來大道方向馳行。匪徒對阿利拳打腳踢，還砍斷他的腳筋。匪徒後來把他們載到金馬揚廣場對面巴士車站後面草叢，在那裡，3 名匪徒輪姦了阿利的女友，並把阿利打至重傷倒地。
